F.A.Q.s
We want this to be a great yoga experience for you, whether it is your very first time stepping on a mat, to your 500th yoga flow. With that in mind, we require the following to create a dreamy, slice of Haven (see what we did there?) experience:
No phones in class
No late admittance - please be checked in & on your mat/bike 5 minutes before class
Take time to chill - please do not leave before final relaxation or cooldown; surrender to the stillness! We promise it’s worth it!
What is the age requirement?
The minimum age to participate is 16 years of age. If the client is a minor, under 18 years of age, a legal parent/guardian must sign a liability waiver in person at the studio.
How many people are in each class?
For regular classes there are 15 spots available in the yoga and cycle studios.
What will my first cycle class be like?
A little dark, a little loud. Think - all the clubs you read about (or visited) that made you want to dance the night away. We don't use metric or heart rate monitors and we don't have a leaderboard. That means your class is YOUR class. Our instructors will never yell for you to do more or touch your bike/resistance. We're just here for a good time (and maybe a little sweat).
What should I do to prepare for my class?
Be early for your first class, we’ll help you get fitted on the bike or set up on your mar. We suggest that you don’t eat a big meal right before coming to class. Need a quick pick me up like a protein bar - we got ‘em! You do want energy to get through class. But maybe don’t indulge in a multi-coursed meal before you come to a high intensity cardio sesh or hot yoga. And hydrate, always hydrate. Your body needs it and you’ll be glad you did during and after class.
What should I bring to my first class?
In the studio, you just need water (bring or buy) cycle shoes and/or yoga mat (bring, rent, or buy). We provide everything else on the mat or bike to make your experience amazing - various weights, a spa-quality sweat towel and the time of your life. You can store everything else in our state-of-the-art lobby lockers (reset and cleaned between guests). Bring your own USB charger to give your electronics a boost while you flow and ride!
What should I wear to a cycle class?
We suggest compression-style shorts, capris or pants and tops. Sweat-wicking materials are best. Loose-fitting or cotton materials aren’t the most comfortable clothes to wear in this type of class. Socks! Don’t forget socks - especially if you are renting shoes.
Do I need special shoes for the bike?
Yes, we require that you wear cycling shoes that clip into the pedals. You can rent them or you can bring your own (we are a cashless studio so we will charge this to your card on file). Our bike pedals accommodate SPD and Delta clips. We also offer unlimited shoe rentals for $15/month - ask your H/H staff to hook you up with that if you are interested.
Does Hustle/Haven provide any yoga props for classes?
Yes! Blocks, straps and bolsters are available for use in class - however, please feel free to bring your own. We also offer consent stones to signal your teacher whether or not it is okay to assist you during class. For Hustle & Sculpt classes, we provide weights ranging from 2 lbs to 9 lbs.
What is the most important thing I need to know about hot yoga at H/H?
Bring. Some. Water! If you know you will be attending a yoga class, hydrate before, during and after. Our smokin’ hot rooms are set to 100 degrees for our Hustle Flow Vinyasa classes and 80-85 degrees for our Haven Hour Yin and Match Made in Haven Combo classes. There are lots of amazing benefits for practicing in heat, but hydration is key to a healthy and safe heated yoga flow. Forgot your water? We have water fountains in the lobby! Load up, then get to sweatin’. Yoga mats are required, we have a limited number of rental mats.
What is Vinyasa?
Vinyasa means simply to link, to connect, to place with purpose. It is a style of yoga in which you transition or flow from posture to posture synchronizing breath with movement. The breath dictates the movement and the length of time held in the postures.
Which style of yoga is best for me?
Hustle Flow classes are Vinyasa style, making them challenging, physical, and heated to 100+ degrees. For those brand spankin' new to hot yoga, we recommend starting with a Slow Flow, Haven Hour, or Yin & Juice class, if possible. These slower-paced, warm classes focus more on stretching, alignment and fundamentals of breath. However, we welcome all levels to come and try out any class! Yoga is all about you and your unique personal journey on the mat. We have a ‘do what feels best’ approach and a ‘challenge by choice’ philosophy. In all of our classes, our teachers will offer modifications.
What even is rhythm-based indoor cycling?
Rhythm-based cycling involves coordinating the BPM (beats per minute) of a song with the RPM (rotations per minute) of your bike. You will have movements in and out of the saddle such as “jumps,” “tap backs” and more. We even incorporate the upper body with core work such as “isolations” and the use of dumbbells for a 5-7 minute arm workout - all choreographed to the music. In the simplest terms, we call it “dancing on the bike.”
I’ve never taken an indoor cycling class - do you have an intro class?
No worries! You don’t need to be a pro to join the dance party (on a bike)! Coming early gives our staff time to get you fit on your bike and show you the basics. Throughout class our instructors will provide modifications so you can turn it up or slow it down. Not feeling the moves that day? No problem. All we ask is that you keep pedaling.
What if I’m a traditional cyclist - will I like your classes?
If you like great music, fun lights and having a good time - yes! Traditional cyclists typically like power-based or RPM classes to assist with their training when they can’t get on the bike outside. So if you’re expecting a power class, you will not find that here. However, if you’re looking for a good time and a good workout - you came to the right place.
Why a heated yoga room? Why infrared? What even is infrared? How hot is it going to be?!
Okay so first - why a heated room:
1) Heat protects the muscles as we take them through their range of motion and when we hold them in a deep stretch.
2) Heat accelerates the body’s detoxification process.
3) Sweating exfoliates and rejuvenates the skin, the largest organ of our body, keeping it soft and silky smooth.
Second the what and why about infrared heat:
Infrared or radiant heating is simply the transfer of heat from a warm object to a cooler object. The heat is a product of a completely safe spectrum of light that is invisible to our eyes. Just as the sun heats us our products radiate sun-like warmth to indoor or outdoor spaces, floors, and furniture, rather than heating the air. Infrared radiant heat offers a variety of health benefits over conventional heating systems (forced-air, heat pumps, electric wall heaters, electric and hot water baseboard heaters, etc.):Air quality – Unlike forced air heating systems, our infrared radiant heating panels do not blow dust or allergens. They do not release any emissions, chemicals or pollutants and help keep the air in your home clean and clear.
Therapeutic relief – Odds are you have experienced the soothing feeling of warm summer sun on your skin. Similar to the sun, our heaters, produce radiant heat waves which work to heat up our body, and because the human body is made up of mostly water, this infrared heat transfers effectively and can help gently increase blood circulation, rid the body of toxins and even provide pain relief.

Finally, it will be about 80-105 degrees - depending on they type of class, give or take (but will feel like 5 degrees more than it actually is on the thermostat). But remember - it is a dry heat - much more enjoyable than humid summer heat in the Southeast!
What's up with the cork yoga floor?
Our floor is cork and that is for a reason! Cork is made without harsh chemicals or toxins (think of how much your bare skin touches this surface, it's important to not absorb excess!), is antimicrobial and anti-fungal, made of sustainable* material and has spectacular gripping benefits, even when sweaty!
*Cork comes from the bark of a specific subspecies of an oak tree that is native to the Mediterranean region. The cork oak tree (Quercus suber) has been a vital natural resource to the area for millennia. As far back as ancient Egypt, it has been used to make floats, stoppers, and even shoes! The ancient Greeks made the discovery that if the tree bark was removed in the winter, through a process called stripping, the bark would grow back. This made it a sustainable natural resource as they didn't have to wait for a new tree to grow each time the bark was harvested. (corkhouse.com)
I’m pregnant - is heated yoga safe for me?
First things first, have a chat with your doctor. It is essential to discuss with your doctor before taking a class, so that you can be cleared to exercise. Talk with them about our “hot” class (100+ degrees) and “warm” classes (80+ degrees), your previous yoga experience and what trimester you are in. When you’re cleared by your doctor, you’re cleared to practice with us!
When you arrive for a class, please inform your specific instructor about your trimester, so that they can provide adjustments for a safe yoga experience - this includes talking with you about relaxin (the pregnancy hormone that gets things niiiice and loose), poses you should avoid (like twisting, backbending and inversions) and pose modifications you can try.
And finally, stay hydrated! Always listen to your body and do what feels best for you and your baby. We are always here for any specific questions, as we do have prenatal certified instructors!
Contact the lead yoga instructor by emailing yoga@husthaven.com if you have any other questions.
